Dr. Thomas Welsh, DVM
Thomas P. Welsh, DVM is our primary veterinary surgeon.

Dr. Welsh is a 1984 graduate of Colorado State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. After operating his own small animal practice in Fort Collins for 22 years, he decided to dedicate himself to combating the number one cause of death in pets: euthanasia due to overpopulation.

Dr. Welsh is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), the Colorado Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA), the Larimer County Veterinary Medical Association (LCVMA) and the Association of Shelter Veterinarians (ASV). He was recipient of the 2006 Veterinary Partnership Award given by the Colorado Federation of Animal Welfare Association (CFAWA) and the 2007 Ft. Collins Breakfast Rotary Club’s Edward Gillette Vocational Service Award. Both awards were for his efforts in combating pet overpopulation.

Dr. Welsh has received specialized training in High Quality/High Quantity Spay/Neuter Techniques advanced by the Association of Shelter Veterinarians, The Humane Alliance, Spay USA and the Humane Society of The United States.

In addition to being our surgeon, he volunteers his time at least one Saturday a month, with the Denver Dumb Friends League Meow Mobile to spay and neuter cats in surrounding Denver cities.
