Please Help keep Fort Collins Cat Rescue ALIVE!!

The shelter is in trouble - We need your help ASAP!

The bad economy has hit our organization HARD. March and April brought in the lowest number of donations, adoptions, and surgeries in months.

At this point we literally don't know if we can make it to our 2nd birthday on June 1st.

Since we opened almost 2 years ago, we have taken in over 1,100 homeless cats and performed 4,000 spays/neuters for low-income people and other animal welfare organizations. We are the only no-kill cat shelter in the area, and are the only hope for most of the animals that end up here. I know that you agree with us that it would be devastating if we had to shut our doors.

What we need more than anything are members that can pledge a monthly amount to help us keep our doors open. It costs $2/day/cat just to have a roof over their heads and electricity/running water. This does not include medicine, veterinary services, food, telephone, internet, staff to care for them, etc. You can imagine that this adds up to quite a lot considering we have at least 30 adult cats in our shelter at all times. In addition, right now we have over 70 mommas and kittens in foster care.

If you, or anyone you know, can help - please do not hesitate! We and the kitties can't thank you enough!

All donations are tax-deductable - and have an immediate positive impact on the economy (money goes toward pet supplies, adoption center expenses, veterinary bills and community events).

Donations are an ideal way for you to help stimulate the economy!

Pot Painting & Planting Party!

Saturday, May 10th 12-3pm

The Fort Collins Cat Rescue will be hosting their second annual "Pot Painting & Planting Party" on Saturday, May 10th, the final day of "Be Kind to Animals Week”.

This event, which runs from 12-3pm, is an opportunity for kids of all ages to use their creative abilities to help raise money for the shelter kitties.

Canopies will be set up in the shelter parking lot at 2321 E. Mulberry St #1. Terra cotta pots, paints, brushes and stencils will be provided, along with plants and soil. This “green” artwork will be sold at the shelter and at upcoming garage sales. Also, since May 10th is the day before Mother's Day, some kids may want to buy their own work as a present for their mom!

Come visit the shelter to participate in this activity, located on the southside frontage road just west of Timberline. There will be snacks and juice provided for the artists.

Contact Us if you have questions or donations. Donations of pots, plants, painting supplies and snacks are appreciated.

Sunflower Farmers Market Gift Cards

How you can donate 5% of your purchases at Sunflower Farmers Market to Fort Collins Cat Rescue

Sunflower Market

What's Scrip? How Does it Work?

Sunflower Farmer's market Scrip program offers not-for-profit organizations an opportunity to fundraise while encouraging a nutritious lifestyle!

When not-for-profit organizations purchase SFM gift cards, (over the amount of $250), they'll receive a 5% discount off the total gift card purchase amount.

The not-for-profit organization can then resell the gift cards at the full retail value, thus keeping the 5% difference as profit for their group.

So, if your organization sold $1,000 worth of gift cards your group would keep $50 as profit. If $1,000 worth of gift cards was sold per month, your organization could earn $600 in profit over a one-year period.

Larimer Humane and Fort Collins Spay/Neuter

Joining Forces to Fight Pet Overpopulation!

The Larimer Humane Society (LHS) and Fort Collins Cat Rescue (FCCR) are teaming up to try and reduce the pet overpopulation problem in northern Colorado.

LHS will be offering a free spay voucher, which has been provided by Fort Collins Cat Rescue, to anyone who surrenders a litter of unwanted pets. This voucher is for a free spay surgery at Fort Collins Spay/Neuter Clinic, a part of FCCR's organization, and can only be used for the mother animal of the surrendered kittens or puppies.

For more information about surrendering a litter, contact the Larimer Humane Society at 970-226-3647, www.larimerhumane.org

Anyone that is interested in donating specifically to this program can make a donation to the P.A.L. (Prevent a Litter) program through the Fort Collins Spay/Neuter Clinic.

Know of a Lost Kitty? Please check with Larimer Humane!!

Only 8.5% of kitties brought to the Humane Society are picked up by their families: "Don't let cat end up a statistic"

Featured Kitty

Stella the Star!

Stella came to us in August of 2007. She was a transfer from Denver Municipal Animal Shelter. Stella and her 5 kittens were going to be euthanized due to a lack of room at DMAS.

When Stella came to us she was emaciated and covered in mats. Now she is a beautiful, playful, and sweet girl.

Like in most cases of moms with kittens, all 5 of Stella's babies were adopted immediately after they became available. Stella, on the other hand, has been patiently waiting for her forever home for 7 months.

Stella is VERY playful! She loves toys, and her best friend at the shelter is Don Juan. The two of them chase each other all over the place. Stella has also been seen playing with Petie the Chihuahua.

Stella is on a special diet due to an irritable bowel.

Stella is a great, fun kitty that needs a new home. Please come visit her and her friends at the rescue!
